- Provide dimensions, in inches, of the window glass only ("W x "L)
- Look at the window on the side in which the safety shade will be installed, typically from inside the room.
- Look ABOVE the window glass to determine if there is 2 inches of clearance for the shade to attach. If not, just let us know how much room you have available and we will do our best to find a solution*
- Look IN-LINE and BELOW the window to see if there are any obstructions that would keep the window cover from deploying property. Some obstructions we commonly see include crash bars, door handles, window ledges, and the floor.*
- Measure the width and height of the glass only.
*If there are any obstructions above, in-line with or below the window, please provide a picture along with the window pane measurements. We are happy to work with you to figure how to make the Hideaway Helper Lockdown Shade safety blinds meet your needs!

Step 1: Test the shade to ensure it is the proper shade for your window prior to installing. Hold the shade above the window glass and deploy it. Be sure that it fully covers both sides and the bottom of the window.
Step 2: Wipe the door clean above the window using rubbing alcohol or a multipurpose cleaner. ALLOW SURFACE TO FULLY DRY.
Step 3: Pull off the adhesive backing to expose the industrial strength adhesive.
Step 4: Using two hands, line up the shade directly above the window. Push firmly to install the shade.
Step 5: For larger shades, it may be necessary to install the adhesive only and allow it to cure to the surface without the weight of the shade. In these cases, you can install the shade per the steps above, and then remove the shade only leaving the Velcro adhesive strip on the surface. Allow the adhesive to cure for 24-48 hours and then reattach the shade to the Velcro adhesive strip.
In an emergency, pull on the Velcro tab to release the Hideaway Helper classroom door window covering. It takes only seconds for the safety shade to drop into place to completely cover the window.
To return the classroom security blind to its original position, simply roll it back up and secure it in place with the Velcro tab. The Hideaway Helper lockdown shade is now ready to be used again.
